Exclusive: Chicken & Egg’s New Project: Hatched Grantees Tackle Gender Identity, Mental Illness, & More

A portrait of an abolitionist attempting to heal her household within the wake of incarceration, an animated quick presenting gender fluidity by way of a toddler’s eyes, and the story of 30 girls crossing from North to South Korea in pursuit of peace — these are among the many non-fiction movies Rooster & Egg Footage has chosen for its newest spherical of Venture: Hatched grantees. Girls and Hollywood can solely verify that six documentary tasks from girls and nonbinary artists will obtain $30,000 towards their completion prices and affect campaigns. The Venture: Hatched finalists are “The Janes,” Tia Lessin and Emma Pildes’ Sundance doc concerning the eponymous ’70s underground abortion community, and “Powerlands,” Ivey Camille Manybeads Tso’s take a look at the intersection of Indigenous displacement and environmental destruction.

Nelson’s “And So I Stayed”; and Beth Levison and Jerry Risius’ “Storm Lake.”
