Michigan males’s basketball coach Juwan Howard was suspended for the rest of the common season after he slapped Wisconsin assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft.
Michigan has 5 video games remaining within the common season. Howard is anticipated to return to teach the Wolverines within the Large Ten event, which begins March 9 in Indianapolis.
The incident occurred on Sunday on the finish of Michigan’s blow out loss to the Badgers.
Howard objected to Wisconsin coach Greg Gard calling a trip with 15 seconds left on the clock and a blowout lead.
Howard slapped Krabbenhoft throughout the postgame handshakes, sparking a short brawl between the 2 groups.
Along with the suspension, Howard was fined $40,000 by the Large Ten Convention on Monday. Krabbenhoft was fined $10,000 however he was not suspended.
Michigan forwards Terrance Williams and Moussa Diabate and Wisconsin guard Jahcobi Neath had been every suspended one recreation for his or her participation within the fracas.
Howard issued an apology on Monday, saying, “I’m providing my sincerest apology to my gamers and their households, my employees, my household and the Michigan followers all over the world. I want to personally apologize to Wisconsin’s Assistant Coach Joe Krabbenhoft and his household, too.”
Howard, a member of Michigan’s famed “Fab 5” group, received NBA Championships with the Miami Warmth in 2012 and 2013. He was a former Miami Warmth assistant coach from 2013 to 2019 when he was named Michigan’s head coach.
